Faaaabu du!

I have the city of Austin to thank for this one. This is the man to get a haircut from if you live there or visit.

Gabe Dropping the Evilness

Bringing it back to 2003 for this one.

A Lighting Exercise

The following are some quick sketches I did from movies for a lighting exercise. Each one is drawn with a black brush pen and a grey Prismacolor marker. The white areas were left white. Each is at the actual size I drew them in.

Viva la Revolucion

"I warn you, I am just beginning! If there is in your hearts a vestige of love for your country, love for humanity, love for justice, listen carefully... I know that the regime will try to suppress the truth by all possible means; I know that there will be a conspiracy to bury me in oblivion. But my voice will not be stifled – it will rise from my breast even when I feel most alone, and my heart will give it all the fire that callous cowards deny it... Condemn me. It does not matter. History will absolve me."

Happy Birthday to a Coo Koo

I had a manilla folder and a black extra fine point permanent Sharpie. Inspired by Conrad's recent bird drawings during meetings, his upcoming birthday, and a few moments of free time at my desk... I drew up this little Birthday card.

Horton Hatches the Egg

This is a drawing I did based on the Dr. Seuss book, "Horton Hatches the Egg."

The book concerns Horton (an elephant) convinced by an irresponsible bird named Mayzie into sitting on her egg while she takes a break--which proves to last for months. Of course, the absurd sight of an elephant sitting atop a tree makes quite a scene.

Horton is laughed at by his jungle friends, exposed to the elements, captured by hunters, forced to endure a terrible sea voyage, and finally placed in a travelling circus. All through the ordeal Horton repeats this refrain:

I meant what I said, and I said what I meant:
An elephant's faithful one hundred percent.

To find out what happens, check out the book or the Looney Tunes version directed by Bob Clampett.

Page Full O'Monkeys

Some monkeys from a page in the sketchbook. Everyone has a favorite animal... well if you couldn't guess, mine is monkeys.

Guh!

I was having some troubles with the yellow paint and needed it to dry... did this stupid drawing in the meantime.

Androgenous Amorphous Amoebas

I visited the LA Zoo yesterday. It was a pretty nice little zoo. There were monkeys a plenty. Came home, took a nap into the night. Woke up, said hello to my friend Sency Starr, dropped a little Martin Denny and created this digital painting. Influenced by an old style of mine, a good friend, and a book.

Fish to Florida

I love red eye plane flights going back East. A drink while you wait, a few on the plane, a mini water color set with 2 brushes and a few pens. One fish left... the plane landed, and I was beat. Did this on the way to my parents, Thanksgiving 2006.

Inspired

After losing the first game, I tied D'bo twice in FIFA last night. Inspired me to put up this drawing which was inspired by the World Cup last year. Did this while doing one of the most boring jobs ever, scanning.
